At Sir Balone we work to ensure our site and tools can be used by as many people as possible, regardless of their abilities or the assistive technology they use.
01Our commitment
We adopt inclusive design as a principle (“Accessibility by Design”). Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, level AA, the reference standard of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). We also recognise our obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code, which prohibits discrimination in the provision of goods and services, regardless of our organisation’s size.
02Conformance status
The Sir Balone site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.0 level AA: most content meets the standard, but some areas may present shortcomings that we are continuously correcting. We are also preparing for the province’s transition toward WCAG 2.2.
03Measures taken
Practices we apply in developing the site and La Lente include:
- declaring the language in the HTML (
lang) for screen readers; - descriptive alternative text on content images, and null alt text on decorative ones;
- full keyboard operability, with no focus traps or exclusive reliance on mouse or hover;
- visible focus indicators on interactive elements;
- a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text;
- form errors communicated through descriptive text, not by colour alone;
- responsive design that remains functional at 200% zoom;
- no elements flashing more than three times per second.
04Known limitations
Some embedded third-party components — such as the subscription form (Beehiiv), the store checkout (Fourthwall) or the payment window (Paddle) — are partly outside our direct control. We work with these providers and monitor their accessibility, but their conformance may vary. If you encounter a barrier in any of them, please let us know.
05Feedback and alternative formats
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, or need content in an alternative format, write to hola@sirbalone.com. Tell us the page, the problem and the assistive technology you use. We aim to respond within 5 business days and to provide content in an accessible format where feasible.
06Review and improvement plan
This statement is reviewed periodically. We carry out internal accessibility audits and fix detected shortcomings as part of our continuous-improvement plan. Date of last review: June 29, 2026.
